Local multimedia company wins a gem of a contract. - 25 Oct 2004
Fast Floor - the Leicestershire-based marketing and communications business - has added a prestigious new company to its expanding client portfolio.
De Beers Group, the world-famous diamond trading company, has commissioned the Market Harborough business to undertake a number of high-profile projects - including creating important elements in a new exhibition at the Tower of London.
The exciting Hands on History exhibition is being run by the Diamond Trading Centre (DTC), the marketing arm of the De Beers Group, for the Tower of London and runs from this month (October) until June 2005.
Fast Floor co-founder Paul Clarke says: “The DTC asked us to build a 3D animated presentation and an interactive zone for children with a touch-screen monitor so they can play educational games relating to the history of diamonds.
“We have also created a number of exhibition elements, including a two-feet high replica of the molecular structure of a diamond, and produced an educational CD ROM which will go on sale at the famous tourist attraction.”
Fast Floor has also been commissioned by the DTC to create a DVD presentation to be shown at a trade exhibition next month (October) and build an application to collect and store contact details of visitors to the DTC stand.
In addition, the company beat off fierce competition from three firms from the capital to secure a contract to develop a high-tech interactive educational presentation for the De Beers Group’s London-based Diamond Information Office (DIO).
Adds Paul: “The DIO is an elite visitor centre frequented by diplomats, heads of state, showbusiness celebrities and other VIPs who want to learn more about these beautiful gems.
“As part of a major refurbishment programme De Beers needed an interactive educational presentation in keeping with the company’s reputation.”
The Fast Floor team created a unique and dynamic package, featuring cutting-edge technology using a mix of software applications to deliver audio, 3-D animations and virtual reality graphics, and an interactive navigation system.
The end result is a spectacular presentation - including an animation depicting a volcano erupting diamonds - as well as interactive diagrams and graphs.
While the presentation incorporates the latest technology it is extremely simple to use - with a hand-held remote controlled mouse allowing the presenter to operate and amend the programme from anywhere in the room.
Tim Strofton, Diamond Information Office Manager, says: “We needed a clear and effective presentation that would interest and entertain our audience.
“Fast Floor had a firm grasp of the type of tool needed and the wherewithal to produce an appropriate and visually exciting product.
“The high level of research and initiative shown translated into a successful and ‘right first time’ approach which in my experience is rare.”
Some of the country’s biggest blue-chip’s like Osprey Mott MacDonald, Corus, and Dolmio, together with Public Sector organisations such as the NHS are utilising the unique blend of creativity, flair, new media knowledge and honest advice provided by Fast Floor founders Paul Clarke and Ron Wells.
The company is also the largest independent provider of internet consulting to professional cricket, enjoying a market share of around 25% of all First Class Counties.
What sets the company apart from the competition is its ability to provide a vast mix of marketing methods - from websites and state-of-the-art 3D modeling, to simple but effective CD-ROMs and effective print campaigns – guaranteeing its clients interact quickly with customers across a number of media platforms. A personal service approach coupled with in-depth consultation remains at the core of Fast Floor’s success.
